Japan / Wedding kimono
I love assisting in wedding kimono shoots. The Japanese colored wedding kimono is called "uchikake" and it's a huge blanket-thick kimono wore over another inner kimono. It usually takes two kimono dressers to help the bride put on the kimono because of the intricate ahd complicated process.
I love the uchikake because the prints are so vibrant and elaborate. But wedding kimono shoots are a little challenging because the kimono is extremely heavy and limits the movements of the bride. In addition, it takes a lot of experience to arrange and clip the kimono. It's always a valuable learning opportunity when I get to join kimono shoots, and not many foreign photographers have to chance to learn how to shoot couples in wedding kimonos.
